Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung sent a late-night letter to the prosecutor general of the National Prosecutor's Office to explain how he transferred the investigation of President Yoon Suk Yeol to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.

At around midnight yesterday (18th), President Shim said in a letter saying, "I am writing to the chief prosecutor of the nation," and explained that it is important to quickly and efficiently reveal this case as a serious case with the fate of the state, but it should not leave any pretext during the investigation and trial.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office continued to persuade the Airborne Division to withdraw the entire request for transfer or conduct a joint investigation, but the Airborne Division insisted on the entire transfer and said it decided that there should be no controversy in major national cases after consideration.

President Shim also stressed that all cases being investigated by the police, including those transferred to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit, will be sent to the prosecution for a final investigation and decision.

Shim's letter is interpreted as an explanation for the prosecution's opposition to handing over the president's investigation to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.
