A man walks between cars parked inside an apartment complex.

Then, he entered the car that was unlocked, and after a while, he got out of the car and ran away at a fast pace.

This is A, a man in his 30s who stole money and valuables in a car with an open door while going around apartment complexes in Cheongju.

A also tried to buy a ring worth 2.8 million won from a nearby gold and silver shop with a credit card stolen from a car.

Mr. A, who was trying to buy a gold ring here, ran away after hearing the owner's request for identification.

The stolen credit card had already been reported missing.

[Lee Myung-guk / Gold and silver shop owner: The credit card company asked me to change the holder, but I just took it out because I was in a hurry to go to the bathroom.]

Mr. A, who was caught by the police in a gold and silver shop, was caught four days later, and it was confirmed that he committed the crime when he lost money through gambling.

It was also investigated that money and valuables worth 19 million won were stolen 22 times in similar ways for more than a year since August last year.

Another suspect, B in his 20s, was caught stealing cash by entering an unlocked vehicle while traveling around the country, including Seoul, Daejeon, and Cheongju.

He is accused of stealing money and valuables worth 5.6 million won 15 times in a month or so since last month.

[Choi Yong-tae / Head of Detective 1 at Sangdang Police Station, Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province] First of all, when you park a vehicle, you need to make a habit of always locking the door. Because the vehicle you see as the target of the crime is targeting the vehicle that does not put down the side mirror....]

Police said special care should be taken to prevent damage, such as not placing valuables in the car, as the number of crimes targeting unlocked vehicles is increasing recently.
