The appeals trial for Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act is expected to begin next month.

There were criticisms that the trial was deliberately delayed due to the failure to serve the litigation documents twice, but yesterday (18th) I received the related documents.

I'm reporter Jang A-young.

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, accepted the court's alleged violation of the Public Official Election Act.

The documents sent to the home twice earlier were not served because the address could not be verified or the door was not opened.

However, in the third attempt by the court to send an executor to the parliament building, it was confirmed that the office secretary received the documents.

Earlier, the ruling party criticized Lee for "trying" to deliberately delay the trial.

Representative Lee said he did not receive the documents because there were no people at home due to martial law and impeachment, citing the remarks of National Court Administration Minister Cheon Dae-yeop that it cannot be seen as a delay in the trial.

[Cho Bae-sook / Member for the People's Power (last 17th): So the reason why it was not served is deliberate refusal to receive it.]

[Cheon Dae-yeop / Chief of Court Administration (last 17th): It's not easy to evaluate like that]

As the process of delivering the notice of receipt of litigation records takes place, CEO Lee must submit the reason for appeal to the Seoul High Court by the 7th of next month.

Representative Lee is accused of violating the election law by making false statements that he did not play golf with former Deputy Director Kim Moon-ki and that "the change of use of Baekhyun-dong was due to threats from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport" ahead of the last presidential election.

In November, the first trial sentenced him to one year in prison and two years of probation, in which he was deprived of his parliamentary seat as well as to run for the next presidential election.
