Israeli troops have set up an outpost on an abandoned military base in southern Syria and are blocking access to residents.

The town near the Golan Heights is a demilitarized buffer zone under the 1974 armistice agreement.

However, Israel has taken advantage of the chaos caused by the collapse of the regime, claiming that the agreement was invalid and entering the country for the first time in 50 years.

[Majed Musalam / Villagers: I was still happy when Hayat Tahrir Alsham (HTS) took control. Now Israel is blocking people from moving.

Since the Syrian rebels declared victory, Israel has continued airstrikes under the pretext of destroying strategic weapons and military facilities in Syria.

It is necessary to stop the rebels who want to establish a new regime, saying they are Islamic extremists.

Earlier, Netanyahu also stressed that Israeli forces occupying Syrian territory will remain for the time being.

The U.N. chief called for an end to all Israeli attacks on Syria and stressed compliance with the 1974 agreement.

[Antonio Guterres / UN Secretary-General: Let me be clear. There should be no troops in the Demilitarized Zone other than United Nations peacekeepers.

It also named Carla Kintana, a Mexican human rights lawyer, as the head of the United Nations' Independent Organization on the Problem of Missing Persons in Syria.According to the

'Syrian Human Rights Network', more than 100,000 people are missing and most of them have died from torture.
