KBL said the mediation was not established after the Finance Committee deliberated on the contract dispute between Sono and Kim Min-wook.
A KBL official said that the two sides had tried to reach an agreement, but no agreement had been reached, and that it was now the judiciary's domain to argue over the validity of the termination of the contract.
Earlier, Kim Min-wook admitted some of it through media interviews when a revelatory post was posted on the Internet community that he had committed harsh acts in the sports department during his college years.
Accordingly, the club notified the termination of the contract under the clause that the contract could be terminated if it caused a social stir or tarnished the team's image, but when Kim Min-wook did not agree, the club asked the KBL to hold a financial committee.
The KBL regulations require the club to obtain the player's consent when terminating the contract.
Hwang Myung-ho, secretary-general of Sono, who attended the Finance Committee, said, "If Kim Min-wook's side goes to the lawsuit, we will respond legally."
Coincidentally, Kim Min-wook is also a victim of a case last month in which former Sono coach Kim Seung-ki resigned after assaulting a player in the locker room.
