In May, Choi, a medical student at a famous private university, committed a terrible crime.
He stabbed his girlfriend several times and killed her.
After two months of dating, I even registered my marriage without my parents knowing, and when the victim's parents strongly opposed it and even received notification of separation, I did this.
Choi, who was eventually arrested and tried, was sentenced to 26 years in prison in the first trial.
The court pointed out that Choi brutally killed the defenseless victim, and that the mental pain suffered by the victims' acquaintances is beyond measure.
The fact that he committed the crime on a planned basis also affected the sentence.
Considering that Choi prepared for the murder by buying knives and blue tapes, and that he stabbed him several times, the intention to kill seems certain.
Choi claimed mental and physical disability in the previous trial, but mental evaluation concluded that it was not a mental and physical disability.
The bereaved families of the victims, who were at the court, shed tears, saying it was difficult to understand that more serious punishment, such as life imprisonment, was not imposed after the sentence.
