Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., which is set to sign a final contract for the Czech nuclear power plant next year, has won a remodeling project for the Romanian nuclear power plant this time.
It is more meaningful because the news came amid growing anxiety over the nuclear power industry due to the impeachment.
Reporter Choi Ah-young reports.

Chernaboda Nuclear Power Plant 1 in southeastern Romania's capital.
Commercial operations began in 1996 and the license to operate will end in 2027, but Romania's Nuclear Power Corporation has decided to operate for another 30 years.
To this end, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. won a facility improvement project with Canadian and Italian companies.
Of the 2.8 trillion won in project costs, 1.2 trillion won is for KHNP.
KHNP will work with domestic companies to replace major devices such as pressure tubes and build the foundation for radioactive waste storage facilities.
This is the first time that Korea has won an overseas facility improvement project to continue operating nuclear power plants.
It was very helpful to complete the improvement of the Wolseong Unit 1 facility in two years and three months, the shortest in the world.
[Jeong Dong-wook / Professor of Energy System Engineering at Chung-Ang University: Many nuclear power plants will continue to improve their facilities for operation in the future, so if we become recognized globally, we will be able to use this as a good career in the future.]
There is great concern that the nuclear power industry will falter due to the impeachment, but
The KHNP and the government are also working on a final contract for the Czech nuclear power plant next year.
[Ahn Deok-geun / Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy (last 19th): It is proceeding smoothly. However, there (the Czech side) is concerned that there may be another big change in policy because we have experienced something like nuclear power plant..]
Despite a series of export performances, our nuclear power plant industry is not smiling because it is "just in case."
