Korea's diplomatic power has also been hit hard by the recent declaration of emergency martial law and impeachment of the president.

Ahead of the launch of a new administration in the United States, there are growing calls for Acting President Han Deok-soo to visit the United States for rapid diplomatic restoration, but the feasibility does not appear to be significant.

Reporter Hong Sun-ki reports.

U.S. President-elect Trump recently invited the wife of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to her Florida home.

Trump, who even brought gifts from Prime Minister Ishiba on his way home, even opened up the possibility of talks before taking office.

[Donald Trump/U.S. President-elect (last 16th): I want to meet the Japanese prime minister. You're probably right. (Can it be done before the inauguration?) It is possible if Japan wants it. That's what I'm going to do.]

Although the possibility of attending is unknown, it is known that Trump delivered his intention to invite Chinese President Xi Jinping to the inauguration ceremony.

However, ahead of the inauguration of the second Trump administration, our country is in a hurry more than anyone else.

This is because it is important to convey our position as soon as possible on the task of resuming U.S.-North Korea negotiations, defense costs, and tariff pressure.

[Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yeol (last 18th): We will proactively prepare for the possibility of negotiations between the U.S. and North Korea by preparing our response plans and roadmaps before the launch of the new administration in the U.S.]

There is also a growing voice that Acting President Han Deok-soo should meet with Trump, but it is not a simple matter.

As President Yoon Suk Yeol pushed for a visit to the U.S. during his tour of South America, but it did not happen in the end, the decision-making power is entirely on Trump's side.

In addition, there is no reason for Trump to prioritize meeting with the acting president as the domestic situation is complicated by martial law and impeachment.

During the impeachment of former President Park Geun Hye, Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn also met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence during his visit to Korea.

The government plans to mobilize the human network of business leaders, including business leaders, but in the end, acting Han Deok-soo's visit to the U.S. seems difficult to achieve easily in terms of Trump's decision-making power.
