Variety, a major Hollywood media outlet, said in an article titled "How did Squid Game become Netflix's business empire and why does the creator joke that he is 'fed up with Squid Game'?"
"The whole process of writing, producing and directing this series was so difficult that I didn't intend to make a second season," Hwang said in an interview, adding that the huge success of season 1 "gave me courage and motivation" for the additional season.
Director Hwang said of his work so far, "I'm very tired and tired," adding, "In some ways, I have to say I'm very tired of 'Squid Game,' and I'm very tired of making and promoting something."
He also said he wasn't thinking about his next project, adding, "I'm just thinking about going to a remote island and having my own free time without a phone call from Netflix."
Variety introduced in detail the Squid Game-related businesses, including the "Squid Game" experiential entertainment space opened by Netflix in Manhattan, New York, and the recently introduced mobile game "Squid Game: Unleashed."
Netflix also said it is holding a large-scale promotional event around the world ahead of the release of season 2 of "Squid Game" on the 26th.
However, the media pointed out that "the risk is high" for season 2."The drama, produced in South Korea in 2021, has become a global masterpiece for Netflix, but it took three years to release season two,"
Variety said. "With no shortage of high-quality shows competing for viewers' attention, it's a long time apart (three years)."
