For the first time since the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol was passed, representatives of doctors from all over the world, including practitioners, professors, and majors, gathered to repeatedly urge the government to withdraw its medical reform policy, including the increase in medical schools.

More than 200 national medical representatives stressed that the government should cancel the 2,000-member increase in medical schools unilaterally conducted without reasonable grounds and procedures at a representative competition held at the Korean Medical Association Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

They said medical school recruitment should be stopped as much as possible in 2025, and urged immediate action, such as stopping medical school recruitment in 2026, if the government ignores such warnings.

He also said the breakdown of essential medical care was due to medical reforms that the government has arbitrarily pushed for since February, including the essential medical policy package, and that this should also be withdrawn.

Park Hyung-wook, chairman of the emergency committee of the Medical Association, said he would persuade the Minister of Education to solve the problem of regular medical school recruitment starting at the end of this month, and agreed to persuade the government at a meeting of the National Assembly on the 19th.

He then explained that the Ministry of Education and the Medical Association's emergency committee will meet tomorrow to discuss the number of medical schools recruited by the National Assembly's Education Committee and the Health and Welfare Committee.
