According to the FT, officials from Trump's transition team have told multiple health experts that they plan to announce their withdrawal from the WHO at their inauguration on Jan. 20 next year.
Within the transition team, there were conflicting opinions that they should remain in the WHO and push for reform of the organization, but the withdrawal theory is said to have dominated.
Trump also tried to withdraw from the WHO during his first term in office.
Trump announced his departure in July 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, accusing the WHO of being biased against China.
However, it is possible to leave officially a year after the notification, but the withdrawal has not become a reality as current President Joe Biden, who took over the regime, announced his return to the WHO immediately on the day of his inauguration in January of the following year.
After winning this year's presidential election, Trump has made moves to foreshadow his departure from the WHO, naming Robert Kennedy Jr., a notorious "vaccine skeptic," as secretary of health and human services.
On top of that, it is analyzed that the opinion to announce the withdrawal early considering the "symbol" that immediately reverses President Biden's first day in office four years ago is gaining momentum.
