The chairman of the Korea Sports Council, who is drawing more attention than ever, has such a powerful authority that he is called the "President of Sports."

On the other hand, since it is a place that usually receives less attention, there are even wild candidates for the presidential election this time.

Reporter Lee Dae-gun's report.

It's 440 billion won.

This is the annual budget of the Korea Sports Council, which leads more than 80 sports organizations.

The authority of the chairman of the Korea Sports Council is also powerful.

Like Chairman Lee Ki-heung, if he becomes a representative of the National Olympic Committee, he can be elected as an IOC member.

As he is treated as a state guest, the preferential treatment under the protocol is also great.

Overseas entry visas are not required, and vehicles, interpreters, and protocol personnel are supported when attending the IOC General Assembly.

As a result, suspicions of abuse of authority have been steadily raised.

[Kang Yoo-jung / Democratic Party of Korea (National Assembly Audit last October): Is it completely irrelevant to the operation of the (Paris Olympics) Korea House, which costs 100 million won a day, and to give (a specific) job to the company?.]

[Lee Ki-heung / President of the Korea Sports Council (National Audit last October): It's very embarrassing, but I think the employees have considered various things, such as unit prices]

Chairman Lee Ki-heung, who is being investigated by both the prosecution and the police, is set to declare his bid for a third term.

Since seven people have already expressed their willingness to run, if Chairman Lee Ki-heung is added, the turmoil of candidates itself is unusual.

It is reminiscent of "Yeouido Politics" when some candidates discuss unification, saying they will surely prevent the Lee Ki-heung system.

The 42nd election for the chairman of the Korea Sports Council is on January 14th next year, and although the authority is powerful, it is relatively less noticed, so you and I are jumping in.
