This morning, the cold temperature is around minus 10 degrees Celsius, and the cold continues to be below zero at noon in the central part of the country.

Since the beginning of winter, many people will expect a snow-covered Christmas due to frequent snow, but it seems difficult to expect a complete "white Christmas" this year.

The cold was severe this morning, but it's still below zero in all parts of the central part?

[Reporter]
As of noon, the temperature rose slightly to 3.8 degrees in Seoul, but many parts of the central part, including minus 0.8 degrees in Paju and minus 3 degrees in Cheorwon, remain below zero.

With cold air coming down from the north, the temperature was further lowered by the addition of radiative cooling overnight,
As a result of
, Bongpyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, was hit by a severe cold wave across the country, including minus 20.5 degrees Celsius and Cheorwon 15.5 degrees Celsius this morning.

In Seoul, the morning temperature dropped to minus 5 degrees Celsius and the wind chill dropped to minus 9.2 degrees Celsius.

In the afternoon, some parts of Gangwon Province, including Daegwallyeong -1 degrees Celsius, will remain below zero, while Seoul will be below 10 degrees Celsius, including 4 degrees Celsius and Daejeon 6 degrees Celsius.

The cold will ease a bit by recovering to normal temperatures around Thursday, but the temperature in Seoul is expected to drop to minus 7 degrees Celsius again on Friday and a bitter cold spell is expected to rise again.

The day after tomorrow is Christmas, but it's hard to expect a complete "White Christmas" this year?

[Reporter]
It snowed a lot even before the start of winter, so many people must have been looking forward to "White Christmas."

Unlike last year, when we celebrated a white Christmas for the first time in eight years, it seems unlikely that snow will fall during the day this year.

This is because from tomorrow, Christmas Eve, to the afternoon of Christmas Day, the whole country is expected to be mostly sunny under the influence of high pressure.

However, after the high pressure recedes, a weak trough passes from the north, and from late night on Christmas Day, there is a possibility of rain or snow mainly in the north of the Korean Peninsula.

However, the amount of snow is not large, and the timing of precipitation is uncertain, so the volatility is still very high.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said that the forecast results are different for each numerical forecast model, so further analysis is needed, and that specific snowfall information will be announced in the afternoon.
