The National Human Rights Commission of Korea ruled that excluding female firefighters for protection and consideration when dispatching forest fires is gender discrimination.

The National Human Rights Commission recommended fire headquarters A to come up with measures to prevent the recurrence of sexist work arrangements.

Earlier, a female firefighter from Fire Headquarters A filed a complaint saying that she had asked the team leader several times to allow her to drive a fire vehicle since July 2021, but was rejected because she was a woman.

In response, the team leader, the accused, claimed to have been considerate of female members in consideration of the poor environment at the site, but the NHRC did not accept it.
