The parliamentary hearing process has begun to appoint three constitutional judges recommended by the National Assembly, which is currently vacant.

The ruling party missed the hearing, saying Acting President Han Deok-soo could not appoint a constitutional judge, and argued that the opposition should stop the hearing.

The Constitutional Judge's confirmation hearing held exclusively by the opposition party without ruling party members.

On the first day of the hearing, questions about martial law were poured out against opposition-recommended candidate Ma Eun-hyuk and political candidate.

[Kim Ki-pyo / Democratic Party member: Was it a wartime situation (when emergency martial law was declared)? Isn't it?]

[Mae Eun-hyuk / Candidate for Constitutional Judge: If I tell you in advance, there is a possibility of doubt about the fairness of the impeachment trial hearing and decision I make when I become a Constitutional Judge....]

Candidate Ma says Yoon Suk Yeol's charges are heavier than previous presidential impeachment cases,

[Ma Eun-hyuk / Candidate for Constitutional Court: What kind of court sentence should it be? If you compare those things, the court sentence for rebellion is the most serious....]

Candidate Chung also answered that orders such as blocking the National Assembly and arresting lawmakers could be unconstitutional.

[Jeong Gye-seon/Candidate for Constitutional Court: If you physically blocked the National Assembly and interfered with lawmakers' legislative activities, I think it would be unconstitutional]

When asked if the acting president could appoint a candidate for the Constitutional Court, both candidates answered that it was possible.

[Jeong Gye-seon / Constitutional Judge Candidate: I understand that the Constitutional Judge elected by the National Assembly is stipulated to be appointed by the President without exercising his right to veto or anything like this.]

On the other hand, the ruling party maintains that acting president Han Deok-soo cannot appoint a constitutional judge.

Kwon Sung-dong, acting leader of the party, said, "If the National Assembly, which voted to impeach, appoints a constitutional judge, would a fair trial be possible?" and ordered a public opinion battle from first-term lawmakers.

[Kwon Seong-dong / Acting People's Power Party leader and floor leader: To appoint these three people after (the National Assembly voted to impeach the president and sent him to the Constitutional Court) is contrary to the grand principle of separating the impeachment from the trial.]

At the same time,
develops the logic that the acting president can only appoint it while the president's position is empty, not suspended.
Using the past history of the opposition party's share of candidates, he urged them to withdraw their ideologically biased recommendations.

The opposition party plans to hold a plenary session this week and deal with the motion to appoint a constitutional judge.

The ruling party also announced the process of objection to the Constitutional Court, and in the end, it is analyzed that the final appointment depends on the decision of acting Han Deok-soo.
