Ecuador's 37-year-old President Daniel Novoa, the world's youngest sitting national leader, has put a brake on the court as he tries to campaign for next year's presidential election, ruling out his conflicted vice president. The Ecuadorian Court of Quito

ordered the effect of the Labor Department's 150-day suspension of Vice President Veronica Abad to stop on the grounds that it was a "constitutional violation of fundamental rights."

Earlier, Ecuador's Labor Ministry issued a disciplinary action last month, taking issue with Vice President Abad's official work beginning eight days late.

In response to the decision, which effectively amounts to the end of his term, as the next government takes office in May next year, Vice President Abad called it an "unfair decision" and asked the court to suspend its effectiveness.

Following former President Guillermo Lasso's early decision to step down, the center-right Novoah, who was elected in Ecuador's first by-election, has been at odds with Vice President Abad for more than a year over political ideological differences since his inauguration in November last year.

Vice President Abad is leaning to the right of the president in political ideology to the extent that he openly supports Spain's right-wing party VOX.

The two have joined hands to secure a competitive advantage with left-wing opposition candidates and expand their supporters, but they are said to have failed to "combine chemical" as a result. The decision of the Ecuadorian judiciary

is expected to affect President Novoah's presidential campaign seeking re-election.

President Novoah had planned to take an unpaid leave of absence before the presidential election on February 9 next year, but at this rate, Vice President Abad will be acting as Novoah.

"I'm going to work in the office of the vice president," Vice President Abad said shortly after the court decision. "Since I've been duly elected vice president, I'll take over as president in his absence."According to a survey on voting intentions by presidential candidates released on the 16th by local pollster Communicalisa in Ecuador

, President Novoa is 32.6%, slightly ahead of second-place candidate Luisa González (29.9%).
