Yongin City said the mining coordination committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has decided to "disallow" the quarry operation project in San 26-3 in Jukjeon-dong, Suji-gu, which the city and citizens have strongly opposed.According to

, the Mining Coordination Committee of the Ministry of Industry rejected the "request for cancellation of the mining plan" filed by Company A against Gyeonggi Province's disapproval of the mining plan.

The Mining Coordination Committee explained that the planned quarry site is a mountainous area with an average slope of 31.3 degrees, and there are Hyunam High School, Dankook University, apartment houses, and Catholic tombs within 500 meters, which are restricted from mining under the Mountain Management Act.

He also added that the mining site is an area where it is not possible to clearly approve the "mountain temporary use permission" for open-air mining, making it difficult to recognize the feasibility of Company A's open-air mining plan.

Company A objected to Yongin City's opposition and Gyeonggi-do, the licensee of the mining plan, and filed a request with the Mining Coordination Committee of the Ministry of Industry to cancel the disapproval of the mining plan.

In response, Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il has strongly opposed the creation of a quarry, sending a letter to Industry Minister Ahn Deok-geun on the 2nd, saying, "If a quarry is made, the damage to the public interest, such as the deterioration of the residential environment in the neighboring area and the infringement of students' right to learn, will be great."

Mayor Lee welcomed the Ministry of Industry's decision not to allow the mining plan, saying, "I think it is a natural result considering the living environment of citizens, students' right to learn, and civil safety."
