The prosecution and the high-ranking government official's crime investigation office have agreed to set the arrest period for suspects in the emergency martial law case to a maximum of 20 days.

The Supreme Prosecutors' Office and the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit decided to set the maximum arrest period to 20 days by applying the Prosecutor's Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act to discuss follow-up measures following President Yoon's recent transfer of the civil war case.

The Airborne Division Act does not stipulate a separate period for prosecutors of the Airborne Division to arrest suspects, so interpretations have been mixed over the arrest period for cases that do not have the authority to prosecute the Airborne Division.

In this regard, the case arrested by the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit was also agreed between the two sides to set the maximum arrest date to 20 days like the suspect arrested at the prosecution stage.

However, it has not been decided in detail how the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit and the prosecution will divide each during the maximum 20-day arrest investigation period.

In the case of suspects who do not have the authority to prosecute by the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit, the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit must request the prosecution to file a prosecution.
