Despite opposition parties' pressure to impeach, Acting President Han Deok-soo did not present the Insurrection Special Prosecutor Act and the Special Prosecutor Kim Gun-hee Act to the Cabinet meeting today (24th).

He urged the ruling and opposition parties to put their heads together to find a solution, saying it is a matter of conflicting political views.

Acting President Han Deok-soo did not propose the Insurrection Special Prosecutor Act and the Special Prosecutor Kim Gun-hee Act to the Cabinet meeting.

They did not accept the swift promulgation of the two independent counsel laws demanded by the opposition party.

Acting President Han Deok-soo said, "The interpretation of legal principles and political views conflict," and demanded that the ruling and opposition parties put their heads together to come up with a solution.

[Han Deok-soo / Acting President: Whether the majority of the people will understand that the special prosecution's promotion and appointment were carried out without any inclination in accordance with the Constitution and laws, the ruling and opposition parties will discuss and negotiate a compromise....]

Acting President Han Deok-soo believes that there are many unconstitutional factors in the two independent counsel laws.

The biggest problem is that the right to recommend the special prosecutor is only given to the opposition party that proposed the bill.

That's why the ruling and opposition parties want to compensate for legal defects through negotiations.

[Han Deok-soo / Acting President: We sincerely hope that the National Assembly will come up with a solution that is consistent with the Constitution and the law, led by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik....]

In other words, despite the opposition party's pressure to impeach him, he kept his principles and threw a kind of game plan.

The deadline for exercising the veto power of the two independent counsel laws is January 1st next year, and the last Cabinet meeting this year is scheduled for December 31st, the day before.

If there is no progress in politics until then, acting Han Deok-soo is likely to exercise his veto.
