Trump posted a series of posts on his social media, saying it made no sense for Biden to commute the death penalty of 37 of the nation's worst killers, and that relatives and friends of the victims were devastated.
As soon as he took office, he said he would instruct the Justice Department to actively pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from rapists, murderers and monsters, adding that we would be a country of law and order again.
Earlier, President Biden commuted 37 death row inmates to life without parole ahead of Trump's inauguration, a pro-death penalty.
President Biden, who pledged to abolish the death penalty, announced a moratorium on executions in 2021, but has not actively sought to eliminate it.
No executions have been carried out at the federal level since Biden took office, but 25 executions have been carried out at the state level this year.
