The Korea Communications Commission and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced the "Results of a Survey on the Status of the Broadcasting Industry" last year, which contains the current status of the domestic broadcasting industry.
Last year, Korea's broadcasting industry sales fell 4.1% from a year ago to 18.9575 trillion won, especially broadcasting advertising sales fell 19.2% to 2.49 trillion won.
By operator, sales of terrestrial broadcasting operators and broadcasting channel users decreased significantly by 10.2% and 6.8% year-on-year, respectively.
On the other hand, sales of IPTV content providers included in the first survey increased 14.6% from a year ago, and IPTV sales also rose 2.3%.
As of December last year, the number of paid broadcasting subscribers grew 0% to 36.3 million terminals, and by media, the number of subscribers was in the order of IPTV, comprehensive cable, satellite broadcasting, and relay cable.
Last year, overall program exports rose 18.9% to $667.31 million, followed by the United States, Japan and Singapore.
