Israeli forces struck a refugee camp near the West Bank city of Tulkham on Monday, killing at least eight Palestinians.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said a 53-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were killed in Israeli shelling early on Monday, and another round of shelling later in the day brought the death toll to eight.

Hamas' armed group, the Al-Qassam Brigade, said in a statement that two members were killed by Israeli forces in Tulkham.

Israeli forces earlier said they had conducted a "counter-terrorism" operation in Tulkham, killing one Palestinian and arresting 18 people wanted.

He also added that one on-site commander was injured when an explosive device exploded in the process of confiscating a large number of weapons during the operation.
