A flight from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed in Kazakhstan.

Authorities in Kazakhstan say the Azerbaijani airliner crashed near the western Aktau airport.

Videos of the plane's fuselage hitting the floor while attempting to land have been posted on social media.

Kazakh authorities say 67 passengers and crew members were on board at the time of the accident, of which more than 30 were believed to have died.

It also said 28 survivors have been admitted to nearby hospitals so far.

The airline says it attempted to make an emergency landing while detouring to a nearby airport after the plane collided with a flock of birds.

More than 50 rescuers were dispatched to the scene of the accident to extinguish the fire.
