A, who entered Japan in March last year, is accused of stealing 200 million won from 780 people by deceiving them as if they would send them if they made a pre-payment on the transaction from July last year to April.
Uljin Police Station in Gyeongsangbuk-do wanted A, who lived in Japan and committed the crime, on charges of fraud, and the National Police Agency issued an Interpol "Red Notice" to track him down.
In July, Japan's Fukuoka police found Mr. A at the scene where he was dispatched after receiving a report of another incident, and arrested him after confirming the Interpol red notice.
The National Police Agency explained that after discussing the timing and method of repatriation with the Japanese police, the repatriation schedule was adjusted in time for the end of A's local criminal trial.
The National Police Agency said, "This is the first case of forced repatriation of fugitives from Japan in about four years since November 2020."
