According to the October population trend released by Statistics Korea, the number of births in October was 21,398, up 13.4 percent from a year ago.
This is the biggest increase in 14 years since October 2010 when it was 15.6%.
The number of births increased by 2,520, the largest increase in 12 years since 2012.
The number of births has increased for four consecutive months since July.
The number of births in October by city and province also increased in all cities and provinces.
The number of marriages increased by 3,568 to 19,551, a 22.3% increase.
The number of marriages has increased for seven consecutive months since April.
