The number of births in October was the highest increase in 14 years.

The number of births has increased for four consecutive months since July.

According to the October population trend released by Statistics Korea, the number of births in October was 21,398, up 13.4 percent from a year ago.

This is the biggest increase in 14 years since October 2010 when it was 15.6%.

The number of births increased by 2,520, the largest increase in 12 years since 2012.

The number of births has increased for four consecutive months since July.

The National Statistical Office analyzed that the number of marriages has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic and the government's policies such as housing support have also affected it.

The number of births in October by city and province also increased in all cities and provinces.

It is the first time that the number of births has increased nationwide since March 2015.

The number of babies born between January and October was 199,999, exceeding the number of babies born during the same period last year.

If this trend is maintained, the annual number of births this year is expected to rebound to positive for the first time in nine years.

However, in 2022, the year before last, the number of births has not reached more than 210,000.

The number of marriages in October rose by 3,568 to 19,551, a 22.3% increase.

The number of marriages has increased for seven consecutive months since April.

There were 29,819 deaths in October, down 974 from a year earlier.

The population fell naturally by 8,421 in October as deaths topped the number of births.
