In addition, the government decided to pay additional project costs to cultural cities with excellent performance by evaluating their business performance every year, and to impose penalties on poor local governments.
There are 13 cultural cities in Korea, including Sejong Special Self-Governing City, which focuses on Hangeul culture, Sokcho City, which specializes in the natural environment of the East Sea and the food culture of displaced people, Andong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, which aims to become the Confucian cultural capital of Korea, and Jindo County, Jeollanam-do, which focuses on folk culture.
