The People's Power held its first meeting of a special committee aimed at "entering the world's three largest powerhouses" in the AI field and emphasized the need to take care of the economy of people's livelihoods even in the face of a national crisis.

Chairman of the Ahn Cheol Soo Special Committee said that AI is essential for securing future food and jobs for young people.

Floor leader Kwon Sung-dong said, "AI is the key to determining the national economy and security," adding, "When politics are in turmoil, the government and the ruling party take the center stage and do what they need to do."

At the meeting, Minister of Science and ICT Yoo Sang-im emphasized the consolidation of national capabilities to expand AI computing infrastructure and secure talent technology.

The special committee plans to hold a second meeting in January to receive reports on pending issues from key ministries and continue in-depth discussions on bills, policies and budgets, with the plan to focus on four major areas: hardware, software, content, and human resources development.
