University graduates employment rate highest in medicine and lowest in humanities

Last year, the employment rate of university and graduate school graduates was the highest in medicine and the lowest in humanities.

According to the 2023 employment statistics survey of graduates from higher education institutions released today (26th) by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education Development Institute, more than 389,000 graduates were employed, accounting for 70.3% of those who were employed.

Among the employed, 88.5% were health insurance workers, 7.4% were freelancers, 2.9% were single founders, and 0.6% were employed overseas.

By category, the employment rate in the pharmaceutical sector was the highest at 82.1%, the lowest at 61.5% in the humanities sector, and the education, social, arts and sports sectors, and natural sciences also fell short of the average employment rate.

By gender, 72.4% of men and 68.5% of women were employed, increasing the gender gap by 0.9%p from a year ago.
