The People's Power criticized the government's immediate demand for reconsideration in connection with the opposition-led passage of a bill to use AI digital textbooks as educational materials rather than textbooks.

In a statement, the ruling party's "Special Committee on AI's Leap as Three Powerful Countries" said that AI textbooks can achieve the purpose of bridging the educational gap between regions and schools and providing equal educational opportunities when used as textbooks.

He then pointed out that a change in legal status could lead to social chaos at a time when there is a lot of preparation to settle at the school site in March next year.

Kim Dae-sik, the party's chief spokesman, said in a commentary that shaking AI textbooks designed to help all students across the country enjoy the benefits of digital education equally is irresponsible legislation that undermines public education, adding that he will try to maintain the status of textbooks.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education planned to introduce AI textbooks to English, mathematics, and information subjects in the third and fourth grades of elementary school, the first year of middle school, and the first year of high school from next year's new semester.
