Russia has insisted that it should not make premature speculation amid the possibility of Russia shooting down a misconception in connection with the crash of an Azerbaijani plane in Kazakhstan.

"An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway, and it is wrong to speculate before a conclusion is reached," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Earlier, foreign media raised the possibility of being shot down by a misleading attack by the Russian military in addition to the "bird collision theory" that was initially discussed as to the cause of the plane crash.

Independent Russian media raised the possibility of intercepting Russian air defense missiles, and the Daily Mail and Wall Street Journal reported, "Considering the suspicious holes in the tail of the plane, Russian forces may have mistaken it for a Ukrainian drone and attacked it."
