'Mobile Resident Registration Certificate' Starts Trial Issuance of 9 Local Governments

From today (27th), you will be able to use your smartphone with your resident registration card.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security announced that it will start issuing "mobile resident registration cards" to nine local governments, including Sejong City, Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, and Seo-gu, Daejeon.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to expand the scope of issuance nationwide within the first quarter of next year after verifying the system safety.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security explained that the mobile resident registration card will prevent the leakage and fraudulent use of personal information with blockchain and encryption technology and ensure a high level of security.
