"Impeach Prime Minister Han Deok-soo by People's Order" Democratic Party of Korea Lee Jae-myung Announces Statement

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, made an urgent statement ahead of the plenary session's vote on the impeachment motion by acting president Han Deok-soo.

Representative Lee stressed the need to propose the impeachment motion, saying, "The December 3 civil war that drove us into the nightmare of the Republic of Korea is not over yet. Acting President Han Deok-soo is turning into an acting civil war and taking responsibility for protecting the constitution."

"(Prime Minister Han) is destroying the constitutional order by delaying the formation of a constitutional institution and committing another constitutional controversy," he said. "This has raised economic uncertainty and sent the people in need to the abyss."

While the ruling party called for the suspension of the impeachment process, saying that Han's attempt to impeach him is deepening the economic crisis, Lee made it clear that he would carry out the impeachment of Han, who he defined as an acting civil war, at the National Assembly plenary session on the afternoon of the 27th.

Finally, he said, "Today, the Democratic Party of Korea impeaches Prime Minister Han at the behest of the people," and ended his statement by emphasizing, "We will suppress any rebellion and retrograde with unlimited responsibility on the night when we crossed the National Assembly wall to prepare for arrest, detention, and disappearance, ending the night of civil war and opening a morning of hope."
