[Gyeonggi] Gwangju City will hold a launching ceremony for the "2026-2027 Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival."

Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, formed an organizing committee and held a launching ceremony to successfully host the "2026-2027 Gyeonggi-do Comprehensive Sports Festival."

The organizing committee will be divided into the operation preparation support division, the social service support division, and the Gyeonggi operation support division, and will play a role in establishing a cooperative system for the competition and encouraging citizens to participate.

More than 240 members of the organizing committee, including lawmakers, provincial and municipal councilors, and sportsmen, attended the opening ceremony.

Starting with the pre-ceremony performance of the Gwangjiwon Nongak Band, the opening ceremony was held in the order of reporting the progress of the competition, awarding letters of appointment, commemorative speeches and congratulatory speeches, reading resolutions, and wishing performances for success.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan, chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his ambition, saying, "We will make it a successful competition that impresses and entertains athletes, visitors, and citizens all through systematic preparations centered on the organizing committee."

The Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival is the largest sports competition involving 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do, and Gwangju City will host four competitions from 2026 to 2027.
