Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul announced on the 27th that it is investigating a man in his 60s on charges of arson and obstruction of business.
According to police and others, smoke was reported at around 10:33 a.m. on the same day on a train bound for Geomdansan Mountain in Hanam passing through Mokdong Station on Seoul Subway Line 5.
Mr. A hit his mobile phone with a shovel he had on the train, and it was found that smoke was generated when his mobile phone exploded.
Passengers nearby suppressed A, who was dragged out of the train at the next stop.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but traces of the explosion were left on the subway floor.
A police official said they plan to investigate the details of the incident.
