The Democratic Party of Korea called on Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Choi Sang-mok, who took over as acting president, to fulfill his duties with atonement, saying he is not free from responsibility for failing to prevent the December 3 civil war.

In a written briefing, Senior Spokesman Cho Seung-rae said, "Choi should immediately appoint a constitutional judge elected by the National Assembly and request the recommendation of a special prosecutor candidate in accordance with the request for a permanent special prosecution investigation that has already taken effect."

He added that the independent counsel law and the independent counsel law for Kim Gun-hee should be quickly promulgated, and the law should be strictly enforced to those who refuse or interfere with the investigation of the rebellion.
