According to local broadcast reports, part of the body was submerged in Lake Osbatnet at around 1:30 p.m. on the 26th when a bus running on the E10 highway connecting mainland Norway and the Lofoten Islands went off the road.
The bus was on its way to the Lofoten Islands, an area where tourists flock to see the winter aurora.
Police said 58 people were believed to be on board and that many tourists from foreign countries were from China, France, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and South Sudan.
In addition to the dead, four people were seriously injured and taken to the hospital by helicopter.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
