The Democratic Party of Korea urged Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, who will take over as acting president, to follow the people's demands, including the appointment of a constitutional judge.

Some of the opposition parties criticized the so-called "consecutive impeachment theory," including Lee Ju-ho, the deputy prime minister for social affairs, as well as the power of the people as "consecutive impeachment."

Reporter Hong Min-ki covered it.

The Democratic Party also pressured Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, who became the next acting president due to the impeachment of Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, to follow the people's wishes.

It is to immediately implement the final appointment of three constitutional judges recommended by the National Assembly.

[Park Chan-dae / Minjoo Party floor leader: I also urge Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Choi Sang-mok. As soon as you act on behalf of the presidential authority, appoint a constitutional judge for the National Assembly and proceed with a request for recommendation of a permanent special prosecutor.]

The Democratic Party expects to accept opposition demands, noting that Deputy Prime Minister Choi strongly opposed Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of martial law.

However, even Deputy Prime Minister Choi expressed his intention to impeach him if he refuses to do so.

[Cho Seung-rae / Senior Spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea: As soon as you become an acting president, you have to clarify your position on this. We can listen to your position.]

If Deputy Prime Minister Choi is suspended due to the passing of the impeachment bill, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho will serve as acting president according to the order of the protocol.

Earlier, some of the Democratic Party even argued that the State Council members who oppose the appointment of constitutional judges should be impeached at once,

[Jang Kyung-tae / Democratic Party of Korea (CBS Kim Hyun-jung's news show): If (the situation) happens, I think we should impeach several members of the State Council together.]

If five more people are impeached except for the members of the State Council who have already been suspended or resigned, the Cabinet meeting will not be held at all and the law will be confirmed by the promulgation of the National Assembly Speaker.

In response, the ruling party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for rushing to impeach representative Lee Jae-myung to cover up the judicial risk.

[Kwon Seong-dong / People's Power Floor Leader: Who is the next person to be impeached? Are you the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy or the Deputy Prime Minister for Education? It is no exaggeration to say that the Democratic Party's behavior is a serial impeachment.

Following the impeachment of the acting president for the first time in the constitutional history, concerns are growing that the political turmoil will also increase as the possibility of "impeachment of the secretary of state" has been raised.
