Ulsan City has finally confirmed that it will establish a world-class concert hall here that has been envisioned so far.

With the goal of opening in 2028, it plans to build two soccer fields and 3,500 seats.

The "global concert hall," which will represent Ulsan, a key project and cultural city in the 8th popular election, will also be built on the landfill.

[Kim Doo-gyeom / Ulsan Mayor: After comprehensively reviewing the decision to host the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo, the final business site was decided as Samsan Landfill Site]

The original plan was on the Taehwa River around Ulsan Bridge, but the location was changed due to the high budget and difficulty in entering and exiting the vehicle, causing inconvenience to users.

The selected Samsan landfill site is expected to be easily accessible to visitors as it is adjacent to Taehwagang Station, which can use the Jungang Line, Donghae Line, and wide-area rail.

According to the confirmation of the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Fair, if a "world-class concert hall" is built around the Samsan landfill, the main venue, you can also aim for the synergistic effect in connection with international events.

The benefits of building a concert hall are obvious, but the problem is the project cost of 500 billion won.

As the location of the construction has been confirmed, Ulsan City plans to accelerate the step-by-step business plan and the enactment of a special law to secure state funds.

[Kim Doo-gyeom / Ulsan Mayor: We will focus more on raising funds. The current plan is preparing to enact a "Special Act on Support for International Garden Expositions" to secure state funds.

Ulsan City is also planning to purchase part of the Taehwa River Station site and review it so that it can be used as a space to solve parking problems.

Early next year, global architects at home and abroad will be invited to launch an international nomination contest for planning design and a feasibility study.

The symbolism of the concert hall built on the landfill is expected to be a turning point in transforming the image of Ulsan, an industrial city, into a city where nature and culture coexist.
