The end of the year is considered the peak season for the performance industry, but the festive atmosphere has subsided due to unexpected bad news.

After the emergency martial law, more and more audiences canceled performances, and controversy arose over actors' overlapping appearances.

Reporter Lee Kwang-yeon reports.

Large musicals with colorful casts have celebrated the end of the year, but the atmosphere in the performance industry is different than ever.

It was expected that ticket sales for performances, which have already exceeded KRW 1 trillion in the third quarter alone, would increase further, but
The number of reservations and cancellations for performances such as musicals and plays reached nearly 1.2 million this month.

The day when the most cancellations occurred was on the 3rd, when emergency martial law was declared, 65% of the number of reservations made on the day.

A series of funk appearances by actors due to health problems is also undermining the audience's trust in the stage.

Cha Ji-yeon, who plays "Moon-ha" in the musical Gwanghwamun Sonata on the 23rd, Christmas, failed to continue her performance due to temporary hyperventilation during the first act.

On the 20th, Choi Jae-rim, who is appearing in three large musicals at the same time, could not be on the stage of the second act of Cyrano due to her poor voice.

Both actors returned to the stage, but critics say the incident caused by overlapping appearances is a predicted disaster.

[Ji Hye-won / Performance Columnist: We are facing a domino effect, not just a cyrano problem, in which one actor's condition affects other performances, as some of the leading actors on hand are going to overlap in large performances.]

On top of that, the large opera, which cost 20 billion won to produce, is suffering from the conflict between the director and the production company and its sloppy operation.

It is expected to take some time to restore the trust of the audience, who has turned away amid a series of negative factors that have made the performance world at the end of the year.
