Canada continues to negotiate with Trump, sending ministers to the United States to avoid tariffs by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Political media Politico reported that Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie were dispatched to Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion and his transition team are located.

During the visit, Canadian ministers plan to focus on fentanyl, a narcotic painkiller, and Canadian government efforts to prevent illegal migrants from traveling through Canada to the United States.

Earlier, Trump threatened to impose 25% tariffs if Canada and Mexico don't control their borders more to prevent illegal immigration and fentanyl flowing into the United States, and Canada has since been talking to the United States, contemplating how to stop the tariffs.

Against this backdrop, Trump has been openly mocking Canada as the 51st U.S. state and Trudeau as governor every day.
