The presidential office said it held an emergency meeting of senior secretaries presided over by Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok after the accident and discussed cooperation and coordination between related ministries to thoroughly identify the cause of the accident and make sure the response system is fully established.
The results of the meeting were separately reported to Acting President Choi Sang-mok, and the spokesman's office explained that it also suggested holding an emergency plenary session presided over by the acting president.
It also added that if necessary, senior secretaries meetings will be held from time to time and shared with acting authorities and relevant ministries.
Today's meeting was attended by Chief of Staff Chung Jin-suk, Senior Secretary for Policy Sung Tae-yoon, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Hong Chul-ho, Senior Secretary for Public Relations Lee Do-woon, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Joo-hyun, Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs Park Chun-seop, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs Jang Sang-yoon, and Senior Secretary for Science and Technology Park Sang-wook.
