Bird collisions are the likely cause of the accident.

However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has started to analyze the flight recorder, with no definitive answers on the cause for now.

In addition, we plan to investigate whether bird collision prevention activities have been carried out properly.

This is reporter Choi Doo-hee.

Before the accident, the airport control tower warned of a "tide collision" at 8:57 a.m.

Two minutes later, the captain announced Mayday, or an emergency situation, and four minutes later, the aircraft collided with the outer wall of the runway.

It happened just six minutes after the bird collision warning was issued.

The so-called "bird strike," which causes damage to the engine by colliding the aircraft with the tide, is likely to be the cause, but the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is still cautious about the cause of the accident.

[Joo Jong-wan / Director of Aviation Policy Division, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport: We will further investigate whether the cause of the accident was a bird collision, another cause, or a combination....]

The connection between the failure to operate the landing gear, which is considered the direct cause of the accident, and the "bird strike" is also a mystery.

In fact, the reason for the accident while landing in a fuselage without braking force is expected to be solved only by precise analysis of the flight recording device.

It is also necessary to check whether eradication activities have been carried out properly to prevent bird collisions.

[Kim Hong-rak / Airport Policy Officer, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport: (Bird Strike-related preventive personnel) A total of 4 people were working and 1 person was working outdoors. We need to check the specific activities or whether the facility is operating.]

In addition, more analysis of the communication is needed to determine the circumstances in which the aircraft is believed to have landed from the middle of the runway, not the end of the runway.

However, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said weather conditions such as wind direction and wind speed were not directly affected by the accident.

In the future, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to analyze flight recorders and voice recorders to unravel the tangled threads one by one.We will also conduct a joint investigation with the manufacturer Boeing to investigate the

gas defects.

However, considering the precedent of the aviation accident investigation, it is expected that it will take at least months to years for the exact cause of the accident to be identified.
