The opening ceremony of the Samcheok-Pohang Donghae Line was canceled due to the Jeju Air disaster.

Due to the Jeju Air disaster at Muan Airport in Jeollanam-do, the opening ceremony of the Samcheok-Pohang Donghae Line high-speed railway was canceled as the national mourning period was designated until January 4 next year.

Gangwon Province said it will cancel the opening ceremony scheduled at Uljin and Samcheok stations tomorrow and start train service on January 1 next year.

ITX-Mind Train, which runs at a maximum speed of 150 kilometers per hour, will be deployed on the Donghae Line, and it will run four times a day from Busan Bujeon Station to Gangneung Station in Gangwon Province.

It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Pohang to Samcheok and about 5 hours from Busan to Gangneung.
