Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport "Fits Muan Airport Local Riser Regulations"

In response to criticism that the localizer facility at Muan Airport, which is made of solid concrete piles, increased the damage of the disaster, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport released data that the localizer at Muan Airport was installed in accordance with regulations.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said detailed guidelines under the Airport Facilities Act stipulate that "all equipment or installations that are on the airport site and are considered obstacles should be mounted on fragile pedestals," but only apply to facilities within the runway end safety zone.

According to paragraph 1 of the same Act, it applies only to landing pads, runway end-of-life safety zones, etc., and the regulations do not apply to equipment or obstacles installed outside the end-of-life safety zone, such as local risers at Muan Airport.

According to the relevant regulations, the terminal safety zone is secured at least 90 meters from the end of the landing zone, but 240 meters is the recommended standard, but Muan Airport is 199 meters, so there is no problem.
