It has been confirmed that the azimuth facility, which has been pointed out as the main cause of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, was improved last year.

It also turned out that there was no azimuth facility outside the runway opposite the point where the accident occurred.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a morning briefing that the azimuth facility has been temporarily demolished at the other end of the runway at Muan Airport to extend the runway.

He also explained that the azimuth facilities at the accident site were improved last year because they needed to be replaced or improved.

However, he added that Muan Airport does not apply to restrictions such as "fragile structures" because the azimuth facilities were installed outside the longitudinal safety zone.
