The Justice Department said today (31st) that the Montenegrin attorney general delivered Kwon Do-hyung's recruit to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Ministry of Justice explained that Kwon Do-hyung filed for extradition shortly after his arrest in Montenegro in March last year and did his best to repatriate him to Korea, including working-level consultations and submission of opinions.
But in September, the Montenegrin Supreme Court ruled that the justice minister should decide the country of repatriation if extradition claims overlap, adding that Kwon's whereabouts were handed over to the United States.
The Justice Department emphasized that it will continue to work closely with the U.S. side to ensure that Kwon is punished according to his guilt in both countries, and that it will continue to try to recover the damage by thoroughly recovering the proceeds of the crime.
