The bereaved families, who have been staying at the airport for four days since the Jeju Air flight disaster, celebrated the New Year in a heavy atmosphere.

The memorial service for the bereaved families continued even at dawn at the memorial hall set up last night (31st).

I'll connect you with a reporter on the spot.

Reporter Kim Ki-soo!

Please tell us the atmosphere of the scene.

[Reporter]
Yes, the bereaved families staying in the reception room of Muan International Airport welcomed the New Year in a heavy atmosphere.

The memorial for the bereaved families continued at the memorial altar on the first floor yesterday afternoon, missing their families even at dawn.

The Muan International Airport greeting room is a little calmer and down than the New Year's feeling.

The bereaved families staying here are also tired of waiting.

I could also see him barely sleeping in the chairs inside and outside the tent.

Only volunteer groups are traveling around the airport to check if there is anything the bereaved families need.

Emergency medical supplies, cell phone charging, breakfast, and various snacks are provided everywhere for bereaved families.

Additional identification was done among the victims?

[Reporter]
Yes, it is.

One more of the five unidentified individuals has been identified.

So far, 175 victims have been identified.

Additionally, the identified victim was reportedly identified through a detailed DNA test.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency is conducting a detailed DNA test on the remaining four victims, and is making all-out efforts to accurately and quickly identify them.

However, even if all identities are identified, it will take a considerable amount of time to recover the bodies scattered at the accident site and deliver them to the bereaved families.

The total number of victims whose bodies were delivered to the bereaved families was 11, most of whom are having funerals or undergoing procedures.

The time of the bereaved families who celebrated the new year of 2025 here is still stopped during the Jeju Air plane crash last year.

I'm Kim Ki-soo of YTN at Muan International Airport.
