Fair Trade Commission Chairman "Strengthens Monitoring of New Year's Platform Companies"

Fair Trade Commission Chairman Han Ki-jung said he will strengthen monitoring of unfair practices by platform companies in the new year.

In his New Year's address, Chairman Han Ki-jung emphasized that he will actively participate in the National Assembly's legislation to quickly block anti-competitive behavior of giant monopoly platforms and strengthen monitoring of unfair behavior by platform companies deeply embedded in the daily lives of the people.

It also said that small and medium-sized businesses and small businesses are struggling due to weak economic sentiment, adding that it will expand subcontracting payment protection and actively participate in large-scale revisions to the retail law to comply with the sales settlement deadline and prevent misappropriation of online brokerage trading platforms.

At the same time, he stressed that he will check whether the hard-won win-win measures in the delivery app field are properly followed.

Han said he will link the criteria for designating business groups subject to disclosure to gross domestic product in consideration of economic growth and consistency with business groups restricted from mutual investment, and that he will rationalize the conglomerate system in line with changes in the market environment.
