The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Air Railway Accident Investigation Committee (SASJ) is analyzing the communications at the time of the accident by extracting the primary data of the black box voice recording device (CVR) of the passenger plane.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a briefing on the 31st, "The controller recognized an abnormal situation while turning to the right, attempting to repeat (re-rise after giving up landing)," adding, "We guided the landing to the 19th race in the closest direction, and the pilot accepted it and attempted to land after mutual agreement."
On the day of the accident, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 attempted to enter Muan Airport's 01 runway at 8:54 a.m., but received a warning of bird activity from the control tower at 8:57 a.m.
The captain failed to avoid a bird collision and tried to repeat it by sending a rescue signal (Mayday) at 8:59.
The aircraft then attempted to make a full-body landing on the 19th runway, but at 9:03 a.m., it collided with a localizer installed on a hill on the other side of the runway, leading to a major accident.
An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, "It is difficult to reveal all the details of the communication at this time. More details should be found by comprehensively examining the controller's statement, communication details, voice recorder (CVR), and the situation in the control room."
